Jared Lowe’s two goals was enough to carry the front running Adelaide Redwings to a low scoring 2 - 1 win over the Adelaide Blackhawks in Senior B League action Sunday night at Thebarton.

Lowe opened the scoring early into the first on a pass from Peter Boyle, and that one goal carried the Wings into the third period, as there was no scoring in the middle frame.

Lowe notched his second marker of the match when he took a nice pass from Tom Williams (pictured) on a setup from Boyle to give the Wings a two goal lead. Three minutes later the Hawks’ Matt Claire spoiled goalie Johnny Cousins’ shutout bid when he found the back of the net at the 15:40 mark.

The Wings outshot the Hawks 25 - 9 with Cousins stopping 8 for the win, while Sam Poole kicked aside 23 of 25 in the loss for the Blackhawks.

The victory improved the minor premiers’ record to 15-1-1-0 for 47 points, while the Tribe drop to 3 - 14 - 0 - 0 for 9 points and in fourth place on the ladder. With one round to go the Hawks have been eliminated from finals contention.

Both teams will be back in Senior B League action again next Sunday 27 August when the Blackhawks play the Redwings, and the Tigers play the Falcons in the 18th and last minor round match of the season.
