WINGS SHUT OUT TIGERS AND SET SIGHTS ON GRAND FINAL
Senior C League - Round 17 - Game 1
Redwings 5 - Tigers 0
The Adelaide Redwings continue to set the standard for the Senior C League, increasing their first place lead with a 5 - 0 shutout win over the second place Adelaide Tigers in action played last week at the Ice Arena.
The Wings continue to roll in the Senior C League with a first place record now at 11 - 1 - 1 - 1 for 36 points, 12 more than the second place Tigers (8 - 5 - 0 - 0).
Jack Stuivenberg, David Bianchi, Chris Rondeau (pictured) , Cameron Hapgood , and Kieran Mccaw all scored single goals for the Wings.
Goal keeper Johnny Cousins stopped all 16 shots to record his third shut-out of the season, and seventh for the Redwings in a combined season effort with fellow Wing goalie Russell King thus far.
Chris Moreton stopped 28 of 33 in the Tigers goal.
“ It was our best game against the Tigers this season, we had a slow start again but then stepped up in the second and never looked back, we had solid goal tending like we've had all season and that allowed us to stay confident and be relentless on our fore-checking and back checking.” said Wings head coach Hayden Crafter.
“ We plan on winning, we all expect nothing less of this team, but we will need to be at our best, it looks like it will be Tigers and Jokers in the semis and both of those teams have beaten us this year, so we're confident, but we certainly won't be complacent.
We only have 4 games left, 3 of those are against the Jokers, that will be s good test for us, it will keep us on our game heading into the playoffs, and as previously mentioned, Tigers have also beaten us because we weren't in form that game “ Crafter said following the Wings win.
