JOKERS CLOSE IN ON FINALS SPOT WITH WIN OVER FALCONS

The Adelaide Jokers inched closer to a finals berth in the Senior C League with a decisive 6 - 0 shut out win over the Adelaide Falcons last week at the Ice Arena.

The victory improves the Jokers record to 6 - 5 - 1 - 0 for 20 points, but with eight more rounds to play, they will need to continue their winning ways to clinch the third finals spot from the Blackhawks (3 - 8 - 0 - 1), and Falcons (1 - 10 - 0 - 0) in fourth and fifth place respectively.

Bryce Wallis (pictured) , Tim Simmons, and Mark George each scored twice for the Jokers, who led 3-0 after the first and then 5 - 0 after the second period of play.

Mathew Peterson blocked 17 shots fired his way to earn his second shut out of the season since joining the Senior C Jokers. Lachlan Johnson made 26 of 31 stops on the Falcons net.

The Falcons return to Senior C League action next Wednesday 23 August when they play the Blackhawks in a 9:30 pm contest, and then both the Hawks and Falcons will go at it again the following night Thursday 24 August when they meet in a 9:45pm match.

The Jokers meanwhile play their next game on Thursday 24 August when they take on the first place Redwings in an 8:15pm game.
