BIANCHI SCORES SHOOTOUT WINNER OVER BLACKHAWKS
Senior C League - Round 16 - Game 1
Redwings 1 - Blackhawks 0 (Shoot Out)
It took an extra time shootout goal from David Bianchi (pictured in red) to carry the Adelaide Redwings to a 1 - 0 victory over the rival Adelaide Blackhawks in Senior C League play recently at Thebarton.

Both sides went scoreless but the real story of the match came from the losing side as Blackhawks goalie Nick Siebert made save after save to keep the door closed on the Wings, who controlled a better part of the game out shooting the Tribe 44 - 11.
Unfortunately for Siebert, he lost his shutout bid in the shoot out decider, while Johnny Cousins who enjoyed an easier night at his end of the rink recorded his second shut out of the Senior C League season.
While things were quiet in the goal scoring department, matters at times did get a bit heated between the two sides with Referee Mark Sunczyk handing out 30 minutes in penalties, including 16 minutes to Justin Brinkies of the Hawks, who received minors for high sticking, roughing, an illegal hit and finally a 10 minute misconduct. Even the Redwings “Man about Town” Steve Meharry, flexed his muscles and received two minors for roughing and interference.
In the overtime shoot out, the Blackhawks were unsuccessful on their opening shot, but then Jarred Schenscher beat Siebert to put the Wings in the driver’s seat.
In the second round of the shootout, the Hawks second shooter missed again, but then on the next Wings shot, Siebert stopped Carl Calicchio, to leave it all up to the final two shooters.
In the third round, Richard Walsh scored for the Blackhawks, but then Josh Hodges was unsuccessful for the Wings sending the shootout into an extra round.

The Hawks were unsuccessful on their fourth shot, and then Bianchi scored on Siebert (pictured in black) to give the Redwings the shootout win and two points in the standings.
The shootout win lifted the Wings first place season mark to 10 - 1 - 1 - 1 for 33 points, while the Blackhawks slip back to 3 - 8 - 0 - 1 for 10 points and in fourth place.
The Blackhawks will have the bye in the next Round 17 matches on Thursday 10 August, however the Redwings will play the second Tigers in the opener at 7:00pm and the Falcons meet the Jokers in the nightcap game starting at 8:30pm.
