Redwings 8 - Falcons 1

The Adelaide Redwings jumped off to a four goal lead after the opening 20 minutes and then won a convincing 8-1 victory over the Adelaide Falcons in a Round 5 replay game held recently at Thebarton.

In a match that was initially cancelled back in early May due to poor ice conditions, the Wings had control of the game from the opening face off.

Cameron Hapgood (pictured) and David Bianchi , led the Wings with two goals each, with Darren Kelly, Chris Rondeau, Jack Stuivenberg, and Josh Hodge all adding single tallies.

Nuno Lopes scored his first goal of the season for the Falcons when he fired an unassisted marker past Wings goalie Jonny Cousins with just over 5 minutes remaining to spoil the Wings’ shutout bid.

The Redwings led 5-0 after the opening two periods, and controlled the better portion of the match, outshooting the Falcons 34 - 17.

Cousins stopped 16 shots to record the win for the Wings, while Lachlan Johnson blocked 26 of 34 shots at the Falcons end of the rink.
