Senior C League - Round 12 Game 1
Redwings 5 - Blackhawks 0
The Adelaide Redwings continue to set the pace in the Senior C League division with a convincing 5-0 shutout win over the Adelaide Blackhawks recently at Thebarton.
Cameron Hapgood and Chris Lee both with two goal efforts led the scoring for the Wings, while David Bianchi added a single marker in the win.
With the win the Redwings improve to 7 - 1 for 21 points on the C League ladder, while the Blackhawks drop to 2 - 6 in fifth place with 6 points.
"Our team know the importance of the remaining games and what needs to be done and we’ll go into them with the same mentality we have had every game since the start of the season”, said Redwings captain Darren Kelly.
Kelly, assisted on Lee's second goal of the game in the third period, and says he's confident his team mates are ready as the finals approach.
“We have a great dressing room here, and when you add hard work and good coaching to that the results are bound to come. We had a great start this season and it shows, but I think there is still more we can get out of this group and if we want to go all the way we will have to prove that as a team” he added.
The Wings held 2 - 0 and then 4 - 0 leads after the opening two periods, and they outshot the Hawks 32 - 15.
Goalie Russell King, stopped all 15 shots from the Hawks to record his C League leading fourth shutout of the 2017 season. King has only allowed 4 goals in 6 games for a 0.67 goals against average, and he sports an outstanding 94.59% saves average thus far.
