REDWINGS EDGE FALCONS FOR FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON
IHSA Senior A League - Round 4 Game 2
Redwings 3 - Falcons 1
The Adelaide Redwings registered their first win of the Senior A League schedule with a 3 - 1 victory over the Falcons last week.
Tyson Boundy scored what proved to be the winning goal near the midway point of the second period, the victory improving the Wings overall record to 1 - 2, to move them into third place on the ladder, one point clear of the Falcons, and five points back of the first place Tigers.
James Cunningham and Chris Carrison also scored for the Wings, while Beth Kavanagh and Rob Bloomfield replied for the Falcons.
“I got lucky on that third goal, shooting it low to sneak it past Hunter, (Falcons goalie). The win felt good, considering we were so close in the other two games” said Boundy.
The Redwings dropped the season Senior A League opener 5-3 to the Tigers, and then went down 5 - 4 in a shoot out to the Jokers in the second outing.
“It’s great helping and contributing to a team with a lot of heart, but I think the credit should go to Hayden (Head Coach Crafter) at this time, considering the changes to the IHSA setup and the amount of time he had getting us ready. Players need time to find the right chemistry, so our coach deserves a nod at this stage” he said.
The Wings goalkeeper Jo Phillis stopped 15 of 16 shots to get the win, with the Falcons Ian Hunter blocking 35 of 38 drives in a tough loss, including all 16 shots in the third period when both teams failed to register a goal.
