IHSA PREMIER LEAGUE - Round 4 Game 1
Blackhawks 6 - Falcons 3
Mathew Lothian and Tyson Boyd each fired two goals to lead the Adelaide Blackhawks to a 6 - 3 win over the Falcons in Premier League Round 4 play last week.
Jarred McDonnell, and Theodore Fabijan added the other goals for the Hawks, who led 2 - 1 and 4 - 2 after the opening two periods.
Jordan Geyer shot two goals, and added an assist, and Jason James a single tally to account for the Falcons offense.
The victory improves the Blackhawks' season record to 2 - 2 and a spot in second place on the Premier League ladder, however, Hawks head coach Adrian von Einem is using a constructive, but cautious approach with his troops, despite their respectable early season performance.
“Our current challenge is to solidify our roster. We’ve started off the season missing a few players from last year, and with the current stop time format, our aim is to make sure we have the depth on the bench”, said von Einem.
“We have a good mix of youth and experience, with some very promising juniors, and if we can add a few more players this could enable us to play at a high intensity, which should lead onto a promising year for the team”.
Goalkeepers Charlie Wragg turned aside 17 of 20 shots to record the win for the Blackhawks, while Ian Hunter blocked 37 of 43 shots in the Falcons net.
The Falcons (1 - 3) and Tigers (1 - 3) are only one win back of the Hawks.
