AJIHL - ADELAIDE GENERALS v BRISBANE BLITZ

March 31, 2017

Brisbane Blitz started with a blitz on the on the Generals coming out hard in the first period and taking the body with a couple of big hits early on, setting the tone for the game!  The game was fast in both directions, with neither team being able to get the upper hand in what was a tight period.

Generals came online early in the second to score in the first minute, with Jordan Brunt putting one over the line, assisted by Folly and Remy.  Things were tight for the next six and a half minutes with both teams having their moments until Julian Fodor put one past Forbes-White to even the score, assisted by Anderson & Norris.  Thirty seconds later the Generals hit the lead again courtesy of Remy McGuiness on the assist from Foll and Geyer and then with only two seconds left Ted Fabijan put another past the Blitz giving Foll his third assist and McGuiness his second.  Generals took a healthy 3 - 1 lead to the break and things were looking good for the boys!

The third period started at a frantic pace with the Blitz controlling the play and 12 minutes in Anthony Santilli hit the spot with a nice goal assisted by Henning & Gilpin and then within a minute the Blitz score again to tie the game 3 all with a nice goal from Matt De Beer on the assist from Fodor.  With the game tied at 3, the Generals seemed to have lost their spark and just couldn’t get any decent shots on net and then with 6 and a half to go Harley Anderson put one past Forbes-White on the assist from Fodor & Scanlan.  Then at 4:14 the Blitz blitzed again with the fourth goal of the period from Mitchell Henning assisted by Santilli & Gilpin putting the game out of reach for the Generals.

So the Blitz took the game out 5 - 3 in what was a thrilling encounter right to the end, however the Generals did seem a little flat in the third.  “Our shots were down for the whole game, our defencive play wasn’t on point and you can’t win games playing like that” said Coach Boyle, “But we’ll come out stronger with a good deal more concentration come finals time.”
