South Australians Marcel McGuiness, Jake Riley and Andrew Chen have helped lead Team Australia to a Gold Medal at the IIHF Division 2B World Ice Hockey Championships in Serbia.

Both McGuiness and Riley made the Adrenaline squad last season as 16 year olds while Chen is on the development squad and currently playing in Canada. Australia beat host nation Serbia 4-1 in a win that put them top in the group table and clinched a goal medal. Australia now earns promotion to the Division II Group A - the highest it has been in years. Findlay Wood, Australia's leading goal scorer, was up to his usual trouble for the opposition by scoring a hat trick to help sink the Serbians. Marcel McGuiness had an assist in the game. Overall, Marcel finished with six assists in five games. Jake Riley had two goals and an assist.

Congratulations to the three South Aussies on their remarkable accomplishment.
