WHETHER JUST BEGINNING OR HAVING PLAYED FOR YEARS ICE HOCKEY IS ONE OF THE COOLEST SPORTS FOR JUNIORS – FUN, EXCITING, FAST-PACED SPORT THAT BUILDS TEAM SKILLS AND RESILIENCE

Currently, Ice Hockey South Australia runs multiple ice hockey programs for Juniors aged 5-18 years of age. Programs cater for those of all abilities ranging from those just beginning to consider ice hockey as a sport to those who are much more experienced. Programs include:

Ice Blast – A 6-week fun filled Come-and-Try Program for all potential players (male and female) aged 5-12 years of age who are welcome regardless of whether or not they have skated before.

Pee Wee House League – Players aged 5 – 13 years of age play non-contact ice hockey. Pee Wee Hockey runs both Summer and Winter Seasons. In Summer (November/December & February), Pee Wees play 3 on 3 Pond Hockey – Thursday nights 7-8pm. In Winter (April to October), Pee Wee trainings are held Thursday nights 5.45pm-6.45pm, and games are held Sunday mornings 8.45am-9.45am.

Bantam House League – Players aged 13 – 16 years of age play contact ice hockey. Bantam Hockey runs both Summer and Winter Seasons. In Summer, Bantams play Summer Shinny Hockey – Thursday nights. In Winter (April to October), Bantam trainings are held Thursday nights 6pm-7pm and games are held Sunday mornings 10am-11am.

State Team Selection – Players aged 5-18 years of age are eligible to try out for State Team selection to represent South Australia at the annual National Championships.

The age groups are as follows:

  • John McCrae Williamson – 11 Years and Under
  • Phil Ginsberg – 13 Years and Under
  • Kurt De Fris – 15 Years and Under
  • Syd Tange – 18 Years and Under

Player Development – Players of all age ranges are offered other development opportunities throughout the year including Technical Skating Sessions, Shooting Skills Development, Goalie Development, Rules Knowledge and Off-Ice Training.
